Why the Kindergarten Year?

Your child's learning (and readiness to learn) doesn't begin and end with the turn of a calendar page. The academic schedule of the typical school year doesn't (and shouldn't) set the pace for your child's education. Rather, your child's learning should, at its own pace, unfold and build upon itself - each year adding something new.

Everything your child experiences during his first few years in a Montessori classroom is leading up to a cumulative "Kindergarten" year. It is in this final year of the Primary program where your child sees first-hand all she has learned come together in a new and exciting way. It is also the year where your child makes the first step towards transitioning into the Elementary experience.

Whether you ultimately choose a Montessori or public elementary school program, the Montessori Kindergarten Year is the best way to prepare your child for his/her next classroom experience. It is a year during which your child, surrounded by familiar peers, teachers, and materials, can revel in what she knows, explore new faucets of this knowledge, and can emerge as a leader in her classroom community.
